The Gold Eye Examination

Our most popular eye examination by far, we use the gold standard of optical technology to give you the most thorough examination available.

What is the Gold Eye Examination?

The Gold Eye Examination at Underwood Eyecare is an extended, one-hour comprehensive consultation including hospital-grade Gold-standard examination techniques, which will be tailored to suit your clinical needs as necessary. This can include detailed OCT scanning, visual field testing, contact tonometry, topographical scanning and pupil dilation where appropriate.

The additional investigative techniques included in the Gold Eye Examination give your optometrist the most comprehensive view of your eye health and your results will be discussed clearly with you. Recommended for those with ocular disease such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and keratoconus, or other health issues, such as previous stroke, and cognitive or mobility impairment.

The Gold Eye Examination is Recommended for:

  • Everyone! - Ideal examination to generate a baseline scan for patients with healthy eyes and allows the correct diagnosis and management plan in patients who may require further treatment.

  • Those with ocular conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and keratoconus

  • Patients with health issues, such as a previous stroke, and cognitive or mobility impairment.

  • Smokers – Smoking can seriously affect eye health and vision. Smoking increases the risk of developing eye diseases such as Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Cataracts, Uveitis (inflammation of the eyes middle layers), serious Dry Eye and many more. Meaning smokers require comprehensive examinations to monitor and manage any changes at their earliest stage.

  • Patients complaining of headaches, double vision – These symptoms require more time to find the cause and discuss recommendations and treatment plans
